Welcome!
I’m so glad you stopped by! Feel free to peruse my posts, get a sneak peek at recent sessions, make a comment or two, or contact me with questions or to schedule your own appointment. I love having a blog – it’s like the “lounge” of my website. So relax and come on in… I hope you enjoy your visit!
What an amazing blessing to wake up every day and be able to say, “I LOVE what I do!” People sometimes ask me who or what inspires me. I think they expect me to mention other photographers or artists, or maybe some current trend. But without a doubt, it’s the people I work with who inspire and motivate me. I don’t know how in the world I am so privileged time and time again, but I just have the BEST clients! Whether newborns, babies, children, seniors, families or adults – I enjoy them all! Perhaps it’s the psychology major in me, but I find it a fun challenge to get to know my clients and draw out who they are, expressing that artistically. Based in the Dallas area, I will travel to locations in the metroplex that suit my clients. We may choose your home, an urban area, a nearby park… the possibilities are endless! Together, we’ll create custom portraits that are unique works of art, to be treasured for generations.
Teen Identity…Something I Can Get Behind
July 13, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
I’ve been reading the past few weeks about an organization called Teen Identity, founded by Atlanta photographer Tasra Dawson. TI publishes a fresh new online magazine for teen girls that’s full of great articles about everything from relationships to fashion to beauty to inspiration. But it’s not your average take on life that our culture throws teen girls each hour of the day, every direction they turn. It’s mission? In their words, to “provide teen girls with a positive magazine that is uplifting, empowering and encouraging. A magazine that believes beauty isn’t all about appearance and looking sexy, but instead celebrates the true beauty in every teen girl.” And their goal? To “unleash the true beauty in teen girls by equipping and empowering them to find their voice, expand their vision, and achieve their dreams.” Now THAT’S something I have always stood for! As I approach each new portrait session, I ask questions, get to know my subjects, try to discover what makes them unique and beautiful (I already know they are!) and then draw that out! How wonderful to team up with a whole organization of like-minded photographers who have pledged to promote these ideas!

Creating bridal portraits is a complete joy to me! Never does a woman look – or feel – more breathtaking than as a bride. Her joy and energy just seem to overflow, drawing those around her right into her circle of happiness. My mission is to create art that captures my subjects’ personalities, to take notice of each tiny detail they’ve spent so long preparing, and to provide them with images they, and their children, will love looking at for lifetimes. Always drawing inspiration from my wonderful subjects themselves, I’m energized. Meet the beautiful and gracious Holly, whom I was privileged to capture recently. Isn’t she a just radiant?
I Love This Age! Baby Portraits, Dallas area
June 20, 2010 | Filed Under Uncategorized | Leave a Comment
Oooooh, there’s just something about nine months! I adore this age – truly! It’s that time when little ones begin to move about and begin to explore the big, wide world about them. Simply everything is a new adventure! Though it can be tiring chasing after these young explorers, there is nothing like the wonder with which they have now begun to approach the world. Thank you, Baby P, for the inspiration! May we all see the world a little more like you do.
A Session “Just Because…”
June 13, 2010 | Filed Under Beach Sessions, Women | Leave a Comment
If you think you need a graduation, a wedding, or a child’s fleetingly toothless grin to “deserve” a portrait session, you might want to think again! I often have clients ask me, “When is the perfect time for a session?” In a word? Now. THIS is a moment to celebrate!
I loved that Daniela came to have portraits made simply to celebrate her 20’s. How wonderful! She had never experienced a custom portrait session, and I think we both had a great time! Isn’t she beautiful? She’s warm, genuine, and spunky. And – did I mention she’s a Captain in the Air Force? Yes, behind these soft eyes and pretty smile is a determined leader, a weapons systems officer who finds herself quite at home on a B-1 Bomber. ‘Atta girl! How fun it was to capture your feminine charm! I hope you’ll come back to celebrate your 30’s, 40’s, 50’s…. Thanks, Daniela, for a wonderfully memorable session!
It’s That Time of Year…

…the season of watermelon juice dripping down chins, wriggly wet kids fresh out of the pool, and the opportunity to once again be oblivious to school zone signs. It’s a welcome time of packing suitcases and traveling to exotic (or not-so-exotic) locales, making memories that will last a lifetime. And for some, it’s the time when all the plans and preparations for a wedding will finally culminate in a glorious, unforgettable day! How I love the opportunity to participate in weddings!
Bridal and engagement sessions are always a great way to get to know my couples better. There’s such excitement in the air, and I’m privileged to be let “in” – not only to witness, but to share in the joy! (Have I said how much I love this job? Oh, yes…I think I have!) By the time a wedding rolls around, I feel as though these brides, grooms, and their families are almost and extension of *my* family!
Meet Maegan, whose wedding I recently had the pleasure of shooting. I’m thrilled that now that her hubby has seen her in all her bridal glory, I can finally share her bridal session in a public place!
(Phew! It’s tough waiting sometimes, folks.) Meagan is as sweet as they come. She hopes to teach elementary one day soon, and I know those children are going to adore her almost as much as Jordan, her wonderful (and very blessed) husband!
Hysterics at the Junior Senior Banquet

Now, the Junior Senior Banquet at LCA (Lucas Christian Academy) is an elegant, somewhat serious affair in most respects. The juniors work very hard to honor the senior class, and their efforts show. It’s a magical evening, as everyone is dressed in finery, and the venue is beautifully decorated. There are speeches, slideshows, tributes. And mixed right in there with elegance, solemnity, and bittersweetness, there is joyful laughter – plenty of it! This year, I decided to offer a photo “booth” (okay, it was more of a photo wall) for the students. Little did I know how much fun the adults would have, too! (Oh, did I forget to mention that parents and even grandparents often join in the evening’s festivities?) With a carload of props, I was prepared for each guest to find his or her own unique look. Or….looks. You know how it goes with photo booths. It’s click-click-click. My shutter began snapping, and the moments we captured were hilarious. I had an absolute blast! I’m thankful for my long-time association with LCA, as my entire family has been so very blessed by those who share in its very vibrant life! Thank you for letting me come play! (And if you didn’t order a photo strip and still want to, there’s still time – just let me know. Proceeds go to the school’s mission fund.)
Beth – Dallas Area Senior Premiere Session
April 25, 2010 | Filed Under Seniors, girls | 2 Comments
I loved working with Beth! She chose a premiere session which included an entire afternoon/evening and three different locations. Beth has an artist’s soul, and we resonated so well with one another at each stage along the way. Throughout, we were able to capture so many facets of her personality. The adventure began in Dallas, where I knew of a beautiful willow (her favorite tree!) next to a lake. Then on to Deep Ellum, where were explored so many possibilities in just one or two blocks. Then finally, on to her home in Wylie, where her dog and piano were waiting to share the limelight with her. Thanks so much for a great time, Beth! I wish you all the best as you pursue your love for art at Stephen F. Austin State University!
Enjoy your video!
Entertaining, Athletic Drew – Senior Portraits, McKinney, Texas
April 14, 2010 | Filed Under Men, Seniors | 1 Comment
What a pleasure it was to meet and work with Drew! We found all kinds of cool locations to shoot, and he was up for just about anything. Starting in his beautiful home, my job was to look for light and angles that were interesting; his job was to simply be himself in his own environs. Handsome and charming, he was so fun to photograph! Then it was on to his “other home” – the soccer fields! I love the variety that customized sessions allow. Thank you to Drew and his wonderful family for making me feel so welcome. Here’s your sneak peek – can’t wait to show you the rest

Josh – One Fun Senior Guy! Allen, Texas portrait session
March 23, 2010 | Filed Under Men, Seniors | 1 Comment
Josh is a good friend of my oldest son, and I couldn’t wait to do his session! It didn’t disappoint – he kept me laughing! It’s no mystery why these two guys get along so well together; they just resonate with their (sometimes quirky) senses of humor. Yet the serious side is also there. Josh hopes to attend Ouachita Baptist University next year. I know he’ll bring so much life and fun to the campus, but also insight and sincerity. Josh, you’re always welcome in our home. Come back and visit us any time!

Senior Portraits – North Dallas area

Meet Nathan. He’s a great guy – easygoing, with an amazing range of tastes and interests. He’s so well-rounded! Now between you and me, he has some MAD guitar skills! In fact, he may go into music ministry one day. Even in high school, he already has the kind of depth of experience in leadership that will form such a great foundation for whatever he wishes to do. (And Nathan, I saw those bowling shoe pics; why didn’t we think to photograph you in neon bowling shoes?!?) I loved your session; can’t wait to show you the rest!
