Welcome!

I’m so glad you stopped by! Feel free to peruse my posts, get a sneak peek at recent sessions, make a comment or two, or contact me with questions or to schedule your own appointment. I love having a blog – it’s like the “lounge” of my website. So relax and come on in… I hope you enjoy your visit!

What an amazing blessing to wake up every day and be able to say, “I LOVE what I do!” People sometimes ask me who or what inspires me. I think they expect me to mention other photographers or artists, or maybe some current trend. But without a doubt, it’s the people I work with who inspire and motivate me. I don’t know how in the world I am so privileged time and time again, but I just have the BEST clients! Whether newborns, babies, children, seniors, families or adults – I enjoy them all! Perhaps it’s the psychology major in me, but I find it a fun challenge to get to know my clients and draw out who they are, expressing that artistically. Based in the Dallas area, I will travel to locations in the metroplex that suit my clients. We may choose your home, an urban area, a nearby park… the possibilities are endless! Together, we’ll create custom portraits that are unique works of art, to be treasured for generations.

The Face of Courage…

February 7, 2010 | Filed Under Families, Men, Tributes | Leave a Comment

…Heart of Faith…Arms of Love

I am continually inspired by my subjects:  fresh, new little ones, high school seniors on the brink of taking on the world independently, joyful couples celebrating vows…  And every now and then, I find myself honored to photograph someone in a more difficult time.  Meet Billy, a courageous father of just 41.  He and his three young boys clearly adore one another.  Billy has stage four liver cancer.  He is strong in spirit if not in body, full of courage, and dedicated to being there for his boys as long as he possibly can be.  Billy’s extended family was here this day for their photoshoot, and I got to meet those who help him carry his burden.  His mother, Jean, is a cancer survivor herself, and she and Billy both face other serious medical issues in addition to cancer.  His faith and his family support him through challenges I truly can only imagine.  As I have been reminded myself by their wonderful testimony, may I take a moment to remind my dear readers that the moments and relationships in our lives are gifts.  We are not guaranteed tomorrow.  Please…if it’s been a while or it’s on your “to-do” list, do not put off having your own meaningful portraits created.

Billy, here’s to you, my friend!  You are an inspiration!  Thank you for the privilege of capturing you and your wonderful family.

Loved This Session! Dallas Actor’s Headshots

February 2, 2010 | Filed Under Headshots, Men | Leave a Comment

It’s not every day I get to do actors’ headshots, but how much fun I had on this shoot!  Michael Isaac is an experienced and very talented actor, who just happens to be an all-around terrific guy.  Michael, I enjoyed talking with you about everything under the sun, including your accomplishments, both personal and professional. You are a rare gem!  Best wishes to you in LA!  I have the distinct feeling that someday I will say, “I knew you when…”

Have you considered gallery wrapped canvases?

January 19, 2010 | Filed Under Fine Art, General Information, Promotions | Leave a Comment

I’ve heard it a number of times recently:
“I LOVE my images!” (and then, with a blush…) “I just haven’t gotten around to framing and hanging them!” Or maybe, “I’m just not sure where or how to display them.”

Did you know, first of all, that we can help you with this? That is one reason I love to consult beforehand and present your images in person – we can get the wheels turning about exactly where – and how – your finished prints will be hung for all to enjoy. This often takes place even before your session. I have visited clients’ homes, looked at pictures of rooms, helped them plan for stunning wall groupings.

So over the next few weeks, I’d like to offer a little advice about ways you can enjoy your finished portraits. Today’s tip is one of my favorites – consider gallery wrapped canvases. These museum-quality wraps offer a clean, contemporary look. But you may not realize that you may choose to float them in a frame for a finished look that bridges the gap between traditional and modern. Of course, they can be displayed as singles or in a grouping. If choosing a single image, make sure you order large enough that the piece has the impact you wish.

Perhaps the most glorious thing about gallery wraps is that they come ready to hang! We include the hardware, and hanging it is as simple as pounding in one or two nails! No more prints sitting in the back of your closet or tucked away in a drawer! A special offer for this week – order your gallery wrapped canvases by Sunday, January 24th at midnight CST and receive 15% off our regular prices!

What a Way to Start a New Year…and a New Life! Dallas Wedding Photography

January 11, 2010 | Filed Under Weddings, bridal | Leave a Comment

There’s no doubt that there’s something amazing about the relationship between Matthew and Natalie. The romance of their January 1st wedding just drew me in, as well as every witness there. It was a beautiful, reverent ceremony in a stately but warm stone church, graced by magnificent stained glass, full of character. But truly, it was the spark between this couple (”Matt and Nat” as their friends call them) that made their wedding so sweet. Surrounded by loving family and friends, there could not have been a better way to start their new year and new life together. Wishing you every blessing – enjoy your sneak peek!

A Senior Session with a Personal Note – Dallas area senior photographer

December 10, 2009 | Filed Under Seniors, Teens and Tweens | 2 Comments

Chelsea, you’re like a niece to me – I’m so incredibly thrilled I’ve gotten to watch you grow up. Do you remember the days of Anne and Anna, your Bitty Babies? Or the Christmas Tea and dollhouses furnished so elaborately? Running through Christmas Lights? I sure do! (Well, I was not invited to the running-through-the-Christmas-lights-extravaganza. Maybe next year? LOL) You’re fun and spunky, yet sophisticated and wise. You have excelled in dance, cello, and piano. You work hard as your company’s favorite spotted mascot, and now you have your sights set on a charming small college in the Midwest for next year. (Somehow I think your Mom and Dad – and possibly your honorary aunt – will be making a lot of trips north!) It’s such a pleasure to see what a lovely young lady you’ve become. Enjoy your sneak peek! Gifted, Spirited, Fun-loving, and Sincere – McKinney Senior Portrait Session

November 13, 2009 | Filed Under Uncategorized | 2 Comments

Those are four words that pop into my head right away when I think about Andrea. There’s a lot there inside of you – a special joy and creativity, a unique way of looking at the world (”Can we do some upside down?”) LOVE it! We really resonated with one another! It was quite an adventure braving the annual Halloween festival, with curious onlookers everywhere. Yet, Andrea, you rolled with the flow. I think they thought you were a celebrity! I wish you all the best on your life journey and as you pursue a career in music ministry. The world is blessed by your presence!

High School Seniors – some of my favorite portrait subjects!

Meet the lovely Miss B. She has a huge heart and desires to help others through some experiences she’s already gained in her lifetime. I’m not sure if I’ve seen eyes quite so big and blue before – she’s as beautiful outside as in! I really enjoyed our time chatting and clicking away! And she was such a sport – taking senior portraits in October with a summery dress and barefoot. Yes, I know it’s Dallas, but….she was still a trooper!

You know how some events are so full, so fun, so memorable?  This wedding had the perfect mix of solemnity and reverence, sentimentality, warmth, and crazy fun!   I felt so privileged to capture it.  Here’s to you, Shawna and Tommy – wishing you many blessings as you travel the road ahead…together.

Mmmm….there’s just nothing sweeter than a newborn!  Especially the adorable Miss P., who was born with such pretty little features and an amazing head of blond hair!  And what a sweetheart!  She made my job easy.  It seems like only yesterday that mine were tiny like this.  To mom and dad – treasure the moments, grab sleep when you can, and don’t worry about the small stuff.  Enjoy your little miracle –  I look forward to watching her grow!
